Netflix has officially canceled BlackAF season 2, much to the dismay of fans. Netflix renewed the #blackAF comedy series for a second season a year ago, but that decision has already been reversed. The show was created by Kenya Barris and premiered in 2020. It follows the lives of an affluent black family as they navigate life’s ups and downs.

The show had a good run and received positive reviews from critics and viewers alike. However, due to its expensive budget, Netflix pulled the plug on the series after only one season. This decision has left many disappointed, especially since there were still some unanswered questions from season 1 that still needed to be addressed in future episodes if given a chance.

When Will’ # blackAF’ Season 2 be Released? 

The launch of the first season was on Netflix on April 17, 2020. We hoped that, given the early renewal, the second season would premiere in the same month the following year. The title is derived from Internet slang, in which “AF” is an emphasis phrase that means “as fuck.” The sitcom got renewed for a second season in June 2020. The extension decision was reversed a year later, and the series was terminated after one season. Barris plays a fictitious version of himself in the series. “#blackAF explores the messy, honest, and frequently funny reality of what it means to be a “new money” black family attempting to “get it right” in a modern society where “right” is no longer a set idea.”

Will #blackAF Return As A Film?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming behemoth is redeveloping the semi-autobiographical sitcom as a potential film franchise, à la National Lampoon’s Vacation. According to reports, installments set in Brazil and Mexico are in development.

The films will follow Barris and his TV family, including his wife Rashida Jones, as they go on vacation. The notion was inspired by the 1980s National Lampoon Vacation films, which Barris and Jones both enjoyed. Kenya Barris told the Hollywood Reporter in a wide-ranging interview that he and Netflix plan to film two independent #blackAF features instead of continuing with Season 2, which the streaming service had already acquired. Both films will presumably be shot in Brazil and Mexico, which are significant markets for Netflix.
