Accomplish you ever daydream about what you’d like to do for the rest of your life? Urano Motosu, a college student, encounters this dilemma in Ajia-do Animation Works’ anime “Ascendence of a Bookworm,” as her life of always reading books comes to an end after being crushed by the goods she adores. Urano merely hopes she could keep reading as she considers what she’d like to do next if she had the option. Unfortunately, she awakens in the body of a sickly little girl named Myne in a world where books are scarce and those that do exist can only be touched by aristocrats.
Myne determines that the best way to make the most of her new existence is to produce the books herself, launching a journey to learn the world’s language and locate acceptable material to write stories on. Meanwhile, Myne realises she has a disease known as “Devouring,” which means she has a lot of “mana,” or magic, but no way to control it, and it’s about to consume and kill her. Myne’s ambition to create and read books, as well as her trouble with mana, led her to an apprenticeship as a priestess, which also happens to provide her with access to a large library.
“Ascendence of a Bookworm” is a wonderful next watch if you appreciate fantasy anime like “Little Witch Academia” or stories that merge the mundane with the extraordinary, like “Restaurant to Another World.” Season 1 of the anime was released in late 2019, and Season 2 will be released in spring 2020. Now, fans are eagerly awaiting the conclusion of Myne’s storey in the third instalment. Here’s all we know about Season 3 of “Ascendence of a Bookworm.”
What is the release date for Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3?
Anime usually doesn’t publish the actual release date until just before the show airs. In the case of “Ascendence of a Bookworm,” we now know that fresh episodes will premiere in spring 2022, but we don’t have any more details (Anime New Network). Crunchyroll has shown the past two seasons for overseas audiences and will most likely do so again with Season 3. Crunchyroll premiered the first season at the same time as it was released in Japan.
“Ascendence of a Bookworm” does have an English dub for anime lovers who want to watch series with an English dub, but it tends to come out months after the original version, so plan to wait a long to see this version of Season 3. “Ascendence of a Bookworm,” like many other productions, not only anime, is likely to have had production delays as a result of the epidemic, which is why Season 3 is taking so long to come out compared to Seasons 1 and 2.
What characters will be in the anime’s third season?
Fans can anticipate all of the same characters to appear in the next episodes of Season 3. Along with Yuka Iguchi’s Myne, there’s Ferdinand (Show Hayami), the High Priest of Ehrenfest, who now knows about Myne’s past existence and regards her as immensely essential to the realm. Myne’s family, which includes her father Gunther (Tsuyoshi Koyama), mother Effa (Fumiko Orikasa), and sister Tuuli, is very close (Megumi Nakajima).
While Myne’s priestess training progresses, she maintains tight links with her best friend Lutz (Mutsumi Tamura), who discovers her true identity at the conclusion of Season 1 but chooses to remain friends with her. Myne and Lutz collaborate with Benno (Takehito Koyasu), a merchant who assists them in the production and sale of book paper. Benno assists Myne in producing her inventions while she is stuck at the temple with the priests because she has a lot of them.
What will happen in Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 3?
Season 2 of “Ascendence of a Bookworm” focuses on Myne’s mana, the Devouring, and her existence in the temple, whereas Season 1 focused on her determined goal to produce her own books and read. Myne comes upon an orphanage while working at the temple and vows to help in any way she can, including by writing books and manufacturing accessories. Myne becomes the new orphanage director by integrating the facility into her paper and book producing company after the temple dismisses the priestess who oversees the orphanage, thereby starving the children.
Myne initially utilises her mana in public towards the end of Season 2, demonstrating her power in front of a group of knights by performing a healing ceremony. Among Ferdinand increasingly immersing Myne in politics and social elements of the temple in Season 3, Myne’s influence in the kingdom and with the nobility is set to rise. Despite Myne’s best efforts, it’s probable that this may take over more of her life, separating her from her family and friends. What else will Myne alter in Ehrenfest’s realm for the better?
