The anime version of “TONIKAWA: Over the Moon For You” (jap.: “Tonikaku Kawaii”) has received a sequel in the form of a second season, according to the official Twitter account of the series. In addition, a new bonus episode will be released.

Tonikawa Season 2 Release Date

Hiroshi Ikehata (“Akiba’s Trip The Animation”) directed “TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You” at Studio Seven Arcs (“Blue Period”). The screenplay was written by Kazuho Hyoudou, while Masakatsu Sasaki worked as a character designer. Endou composed the music for the film.

Between October and December 2020, the 12-part series aired on Japanese television and was simulcast on Crunchyroll with English subtitles.

“TONIKAWA” is based on kenjiro Hata’s romantic manga of the same name, which has been published since February 2018 in the “Shuukan Shounen Sunday” magazine. Shogakukan has so far released 14 volumes in the Japanese market.

The start date for the second season is still unknown. Crunchyroll, the streaming site that delivers the twelve-part first season with English and Japanese voice acting on demand, is simulcasting the new episodes outside of Japan. In 2021, however, two OVAs have been announced. Season 2 will be published after the OVAs, so expect some delays. It’ll be published in early or mid-2022, according to our estimates.
