Fingernails may be the best way to flaunt your look but do you know they are an essential health indicator. We all love long and healthy nails but often feel helpless with slow and fragile growth.

1. No artificial nails and toxic nail paints

Regular use of artificial nails weakens your nails and makes them fragile. Also, check the ingredients of your nail paints before buying. Ensure to use polishes without chemicals like toluene, formaldehyde, DBP, and toxins. Use water-based formulations for best results. 

2. Basic grooming practices

Good grooming practices increase nail strength and reduce nail breakage. Keep your nails clean and dry. Do not forget to shape and trim your nails regularly. Most importantly, avoid biting your pretty nails!

3. Increase water and protein intake

For your overall health, body hydration plays an essential role. You can even include coconut water and fresh fruit juices in your diet. Protein intake will help you speed up nail growth. Take a protein-rich diet with soybean and eggs. 

4. Use cuticle serum

Hydrating your cuticles with oil or serum ensures healthy and fast growth. Dry nails break and chip more often as compared to moisturized ones. My advice would be to put on some oil before bed for best results. 

5. Use coconut oil

Using coconut oil is an age-old remedy for longer nails. Dip fingers in warm coconut oil and massage for 10 minutes. You can wash your hands afterward or even let them rest the entire night. Doing this regularly will have a magical result. You can even use petroleum jelly instead of coconut oil. 

6. Honey nail mask

Honey not only has various health benefits but is also effective for nail growth. You can make a nail mask by mixing 2 teaspoons of honey with a few drops of lemon juice. Massage and let it rest for 20-25 minutes. Rinse off and repeat at least thrice a week.
