The bad news first. The first and second seasons of Demon Slayer were separated by around two and a half years, so we would anticipate that the third season will follow.
Therefore, even if a release date for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village arc has not yet been confirmed, we anticipate the third season to arrive in the fall of 2023.
The first teaser image for the third season was tweeted by the official Demon Slayer account in February 2022, confirming that it was really under development.
Demon Slayer season 3 story
The third season of Demon Slayer is called the Swordsmith Village Arc. Don’t worry, we won’t give away anything about the source material here, but we think it will cover manga chapters 100–127. The Entertainment District Arc also went from 70 to 99, so this season is also likely to have 12 episodes, give or take a few.
It should involve Tanjiro going to Swordsmith Village to get a new weapon unless there are major changes. As luck would have it, an old weapon is in the village. But the story that the Love and Mist Hashiras and maybe one or two demons are interested in isn’t quite that simple.
On a bigger scale, the way the episode ended in the Entertainment District gave us an idea of where the show is likely to go after season 3. Tengen is no longer in the game, but he is still alive and well. He told Iguro that Tanjiro was the most likely person to take over for him as Hahira. From there, the Demon Slayers can finally go after Muzan Kibutsuji, the person they want to kill the most.

Where to stream Demon Slayer
Crunchyroll now has Demon Slayer for you to watch. We think that Demon Slayer season 3 will do the same and be available to stream on that site, especially since Funimation just merged with that site. In some places, the first season is already ready to stream on Netflix.
And that’s it… at least for now. In the meantime, check out our guide to Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 to see what else is coming up. Here’s how to watch Demon Slayer in order if you need to catch up.
Who are the new characters and monsters in season 3 of Demon Slayer?
The characters from the Swordsmith Village arc will include Tanjiro (Natsuki Hanae), Zenitsu (Hiro Shimono), Inosuke (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka), and Nezuko (Akari Kitou).
Two characters from the series, the Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and the Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanji, are joining them. Future seasons should also see additional members of the Hashiras and the Twelve Upper Moons/Twelve Kabuki. A recent official sketch of the antagonist One Upper Moon, Doma, who is anticipated to make an appearance in Demon Slayer season 3, has been made public.
