Why Did Natalie Maines And Actor Adrian Pasdar Divorce? & Get All Details Here

Following the difficult divorce of lead vocalist Natalie Maines, the country music group The Dixie Chicks—now simply known as The Chicks—returned to the music scene in 2020 with the release of their album “Gaslighter” after a lengthy 14-year sabbatical.

Together with Jack Antonoff (who has collaborated with Lorde, Taylor Swift, and the band The Bleachers), the band produced the song “Gaslighter.”

After a protracted and less than pleasant legal struggle, Natalie Maines and her former spouse of 17 years, actor Adrian Pasdar, reached a divorce agreement in December 2019.

How did Adrian Pasdar and Natalie Maines get together?

Maines and Pasdar first connected during bandmate Emily Strayer’s wedding in May 1999, a few years after Maines’ divorce from her spouse of two years, Michael Tarabay.

The pair got married on June 24th, 2000, a year later. Jackson Slade Pasdar and Beckett Finn Pasdar, their sons, were born in March 2001 and July 2004, respectively.

Who is Adrian Pasdar, Natalie Maines’ ex-husband?

Pasdar, who studied at the renowned Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, made his screen debut in 1986 at the age of just 19 as Chipper in “Top Gun.” His roles include Nathan Petrelli in the NBC superhero drama series “Heroes” and Frankie in the 1993 Brian De Palma thriller “Carlito’s Way.” He also appeared with Natalie Maines and The Chicks in the music video for “Goodbye Earl.”

However, Pasdar’s big break in television came in 1996 when he was chosen to play Jim Profit, the show’s titular character, on the Fox series “Profit.” He later went on to star in a number of films and television shows, including “Heroes,” “Judging Amy,” “Desperate Housewives,” and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Adrian Pasdar fought the prenup.

The legality of the prenuptial agreement that the former couple signed before getting married was one of the primary concerns during their protracted divorce.

Pasdar reportedly made $400,000 a year, but he requested $60,000 a month in spousal support.

Pasdar had claimed in a court document that he, “does not recall the events related to the drafting and negotiation of the prenuptial agreement in 2000.”

The prenup stated that neither party would get spousal support, which Pasdar contested. His lawyers stated, “Natalie’s assets and income are far greater than Adrian’s. At present, Adrian lacks the financial resources from which to support himself and their children at a level anywhere near the marital standard.”

The prenuptial agreement also said that Pasdar and Maines would own their own things.

When they got married, both Pasdar and Maines had already done well in their jobs. The prenuptial agreement said that both Pasdar and Maines could keep the property they had before they got married. It also said that all of the royalties from The Chicks’ music would go to her and all of his acting royalties would go to him.

They also agreed that if they got a divorce, neither of them would get money for their kids or their spouse.

During the court case with Maines, Pasdar filled out a form about his income and expenses.

In court, Pasdar alleged that his ex and the mother of their two sons acted “aggressively” and “played games.” The actor claimed that Maines was to blame for his financial difficulties in a document that was submitted to the courts on February 4th, 2019.

During his legal battle with Maines, Pasdar disclosed his income and expenses. He tried to persuade the judge that he was entitled to $60,000 a month in alimony.

He said that he made $423,931.03 in 2018. The average amount he made each month was $18,000. The rent for his apartment in Venice, California, was $7,000. His boat cost $1,742. He spent $1,500 on health care. He spent $962 on groceries, $835 on eating out, $715 on clothes, $908 on entertainment, $1,916 on his car, $1,362 on his child, and $700 on household costs.

He said that he had only $2,571 in cash and bank accounts and that his monthly expenses were $20,717. Friends and family had given him loans for living expenses and lawyer fees totaling $68,000. During their marriage, he owed an extra $130,000 on a line of credit and $52,000 to an old lawyer.

During their marriage, he also said, Maines paid the mortgage, expenses, and bills, bought their vacation home and took care of the kids’ expenses. Pasdar said that he usually paid for meals out and other small costs for the kids’ activities outside of school.

In the papers filed with the court, Pasdar said that Maines, “decided to aggressively litigate this divorce, knowing that Respondent has no access to funds to pay the substantial past and future attorneys fees and costs.”

Their divorce is legally done.
