Video footage shows Senator Ted Cruz being heckled by a passenger on a flight

A heckler asked Senator Ted Cruz to name one victim of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that killed 19 students and two teachers. The heckler put a video of the man talking to the Texas senator on a plane on Twitter.

The man begins by thanking the Republican in a sarcastic way for “everything you’ve done since Uvalde.” “All those podcast episodes must have raised a lot of money,” he said.

Cruz responded by talking about his bill to make schools safer, which was blocked on Wednesday by the Senate. Cruz had asked everyone to agree, so any disagreement stopped the bill from being passed.

A Democrat from Connecticut named Chris Murphy made fun of Cruz and his bills, calling them “theatre” and not an “actual attempt to pass legislation.” The heckler then asks Cruz in the video if he knows any of the names of the people who died in Uvalde.

“I do. Ask Chris Murphy why he was against the most significant school safety bill ever passed yesterday and why he stopped it, “Cruz spoke up. The heckler does not care about what Cruz said and asks him again to name a Uvalde victim.

“You do not know, though. You are not interested in the facts. It is pleasing that you are a partisan, “Cruz says as he walks away. The poster posted the video and a message of support for the Democratic candidate for Governor of Texas, Beto O’Rourke, on Twitter.

Since the shooting at Uvalde High School in May, Cruz has refused to back gun control measures. The parents of Alexandria Aniyah Rubio, a 10-year-old girl who was killed in the Uvalde shooting, said that they asked Cruz in a private meeting on Wednesday to support a federal ban on semi-automatic weapons.

“Instead, he said he supports increasing law enforcement presence on school campuses,” the grieving mother Kimberly Mata-Rubio wrote on Twitter.
