Veteran actress Suzzane Douglas passes away at the age of 64

Suzanne Douglas who recently played a pivotal role in the Netflix series ‘When They See Us’ as Grace Cuffee has passed away at the age of 64. She has performed many prominent roles in many celebrated TV shows and movies such as, ‘Tap,’ ‘Jason’s Lyric’ and ‘Stella Got Her Groove Back.’  

The veteran actress was a part of WB sitcom that aired from 1995 to 1999, “The Parent Hood” where she played the prominent part of the matriarch, Jerri Peterson. The news was disclosed by the former child actress Reagan Gomez, who played the role of Suzane Doughlas’s daughter, Zaria Peterson in “The Prent Hood.” 

Reagan Selena tweeted a picture of two together captioned, “Our Last Taping” which confirmed the news of the actress’s death that broke on 6th July. Even Suzanne’s cousin posted about her on Twitter confirming the actress’s death. The cause of the death is still unknown. 

The actress’s cousin named Angie Tee wrote: “A beautiful and talented actress made her transition today. She warmed our hearts on movie screens and television sets all over the world. This beautiful soul was my cousin. She continued with a broken heart, “I can remember growing up, there weren’t very many Black actresses who had starring roles but there was my cousin with the lead role in Tap starring alongside great dancers such as Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis Jr. She also performed with Angela Bassett and Whoopi Goldberg in How Stella Got Her Groove BackThe Inkwell, Jason’s Lyric and so much more the list goes on. The world will miss your talent but your soul will live on forever Rest in Paradise my beautiful cousin Suzzane you will be missed RIP.” 

Celebrities quickly took to their social media platforms to express their heartfelt sorrow and share their thoughts and prayers with their family and friends.
