The Community Actress Gillian Anderson “Volunteered” Herself To Be In The Film

Gillian Anderson makes light of the fact that her Twitter handle was mentioned in a tweet for the “Community” movie by humorously trying out for a role.

Gillian Anderson doesn’t have any trouble becoming Britta in the Community movie starring Dan Harmon.

The star of “Sex Education” responded to Joel McHale’s tweet confirming the existence of the “Community” movie since it incorrectly tagged her instead of series regular “Gillian Jacobs.” Anderson quote tweeted the post with, “I’ll be in the movie if you’ll have me,” offering to be cast in the film “Which Gillian Jacobs? As for me, I’m in @joelmchale. ”

In an interview, Peacock confirmed that the cast of Community, including McHale, Jacobs, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong, would all be returning for the film adaptation. Whether or not Donald Glover and Yvette Nicole Brown will reprise their roles is still up in the air.

Harmon and Community’s Andrew Guest will pen the script; they’ll also serve as executive producers alongside McHale, the show’s original creators, Gary Foster and Russ Krasnoff, and the show’s former writers. Peacock will also acquire non-exclusive rights to all six seasons of Community, five of which aired on NBC and one on the Yahoo! Screen platform.

More About “The Community”

The characters of the NBC sitcom Community, which ran from 2009 to 2015, were an eclectic mix of students at Greendale Community College in Colorado. Ex-lawyer Jeff Winger (McHale), activist Britta Perry (Jacobs), nerdy jock Troy Barnes (Glover), pop culture enthusiast Abed Nadir (Pudi), religious mother Shirley Bennett (Brown), overachieving student Annie Edison (Brie), an ex-C.E.O. Pierce Hawthorne (Chevy Chase) were all part of the gang that got into all sorts of trouble at school.

A couple of the show’s supporting characters, played by Rash and Jeong, respectively, eventually became regulars: Dean Pelton and Ben Chang.

The show’s popularity grew over its six-season run because of its ability to poke fun at a wide variety of film and television franchises in each episode, from Goodfellas and Law & Order to Ken Burns documentaries. The brother’s Joe and Anthony Russo directed the season two finale episodes “A Fistful of Paintballs” and “For a Few Paintballs More,” who was later hired by Kevin Feige to direct Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

After being originally mentioned by Abed in Season 2’s “Paradigms of Human Memory,” the “six seasons and a movie” slogan became a mantra to keep Community on the air.

Harmon announced in August that a movie script for Community had been written but that the project had not yet been given the green light. According to what he said, “There’s a backstory, but it’s anyone’s guess whether or not we’ll actually stick to it once we start showing it around to potential venues. The bargaining process can now begin. ”

The Community Movie Release Date

An official release date is premature at this time due to the film’s recent announcement and a lack of information regarding its cast or production timetable. It’s more likely to be released at the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024.
