The Boys “Gen V” Spinoff Release Date Status: Cast, Plot, And Everything We Know

In hindsight, it’s always clear that comic book shows and movies were a big hit. People were surprised when Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie made more than $1 billion. It’s crazy to think that Marvel’s The Avengers was once seen as a risk.

The Boys is another “well, duh” movie. It’s very violent, makes fun of the superhero empire in pop culture, and you could watch the whole first season in one sitting. Before the first episode even aired, Amazon gave the show the go-ahead for a second season, and after three seasons, it’s never been better.

Showrunner Eric Kripke is also making spinoffs for The Boys. “The Boys Presents: Diabolical,” an anthology of weird animated stories set in the show’s universe, came out on Prime Video earlier this year, and “GEN V” will be out soon.

The Boys “Gen V” Spinoff Release Date Details

At the time of writing, we don’t have a confirmed date for when The Boy’s “GEN V” spinoff will come out.

The spinoff started filming at the University of Toronto in May of this year, and it will end in October or by the end of 2022, whichever comes first.

Karl Urban said that The Boys Season 4 will start filming in August, so it’s likely that GEN V will come out in the first half of 2023, before the next season of the main show.

Plot Of The Boys “Gen V” Spinoff

When the spinoff was first announced in September 2021, it was said to be “part college show, part Hunger Games, with all the heart, satire, and raunchiness of The Boys,” according to Collider.

In other news, GEN V is said to follow “the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes” at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, which is run by Vought International, “as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities.”

GEN V will also be about the G-Men, an original parody of Marvel’s X-Men by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The G-Men were briefly mentioned in the first season of The Boys.

Cast Details Of The Boys “Gen V” Spinoff

We do know some official details about the cast: Patrick Schwarzenegger will play Golden Boy, Sean Patrick Thomas will play Polarity after voicing an unnamed character in Diabolical, and Marco Pigossi will also play Doctor Edison Cardosa.

Lizzie Broadway will also play Emma Shaw. Jaz Sinclair will play Marie Moreau, and Chance Perdomo, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, and Shelley Conn will all be in the show in roles that haven’t been announced yet.

Schwarzenegger had previously tried out for the role of Homelander. He told Variety, “This set is a lot of fun, and it’s just a loose comedy. It’s like if Euphoria and superheroes had a baby.”

As for characters from The Boys, we don’t know who will show up, but Kripke has said that a few well-known superheroes will make an appearance, hopefully with their capes.

In a Rolling Stone interview, the showrunner said, “Yes. Without giving anything away, I think there will be a lot of cameos that are very, very cool. Since Vought runs the college, Vought characters will inevitably cross paths with each other.”

The Boys “Gen V” Spinoff: Will It Crossover With The Boys?

Kripke has confirmed that the “GEN V” spinoff of “The Boys” will cross over with “The Boys.”

“There is a crossover, and we’re doing our best to create a universe where some of the problems and storylines from Season 3 carry over to the first season of GEN V.

“Like, there’s a presidential campaign going on in the background of that season, and things are going on at that school that is both reactions to Season 3 of The Boys.

“There’s Soldier Boy, etc., but there are also some new storylines in that season of the spinoff that we have to pick up in Season 4 of the show.”

Kripke also said nice things about MCU architect Kevin Feige as the universe of “The Boys” starts to grow.

He said, “Well, it’s a different part of the world and a different kind of problem, but it’s been interesting.

“I give Kevin Feige a lot of credit because now that we’re trying to build a universe and do it well, the amount that you end up trying to not just tell the same mega story, and it’s hard enough to keep one f**king show straight, but to try to keep two shows straight, have them each be entertaining and their animal, but still fit together like Voltron or something is a whole new level of challenge that.”
