Rick And Morty Season 6 Release Date: Everything We Know So Far about This Series!?

There are Rick and Morty spoilers ahead.

Even in a multiverse with an endless number of possibilities, it’s difficult to conceive a world without Rick and Morty and their friends. Do not be concerned, it appears that you will not be required to do so for a long period of time.

In 2018, Adult Swim commissioned a total of 70 further episodes of Rick and Morty. SEVENTY. Even though some of these episodes have already been shown, assuming the show continues to air ten episodes every season, we will have made it all the way to season ten.

That’s a lengthy way of saying that Rick and Morty season six has been announced for quite some time, and it appears that production on that chapter is already nearly finished. Earlier this year, author Alex Rubens teased fans on Twitter with the following message: “Allow me to mention that we’ve begun writing Rick and Morty Season 7 right now. (If we didn’t, we didn’t, and I wasn’t).”

Ever since, Rick and Morty writer Cody Ziglar has stated on Twitter that the writing for season seven has been completed, indicating that season six will be released sooner rather than later. Nothing could be sexier or even more schwifty than that!

Is Rick And Morty Renewed For Season 6

Show Status as of Right Now Season 6 of Rick and Morty has not been renewed yet.

Rick And Morty Season 6 Release Date

Adult Swim has not yet announced the release date for Rick and Morty Season 6. Following an exclusive panel discussion at the Adult Swim Festival 2021 in November, the broadcaster stated that a 2022 premiere date was planned for Rick and Morty (via ScreenRant). That’s the closest we got to a specific release date, although season six might conceivably debut a year after season five concluded, which would put it in the summer of 2022.

Rick And Morty Season 6 Release Date

Just yet, though, don’t put all your schmeckles into that wager. Also feasible is that Adult Swim will surprise us with an early release or perhaps change things up so that episodes are distributed in more infrequent increments. Justin Roiland, one of the show’s co-creators, once requested that each chapter be shown one month apart to allow his crew more breathing room.

Why not give it a shot one day, or at the very least release some holiday-themed specials in advance of the show’s next season? A Pickle Rick would be the perfect Valentine’s Day treat for us.

Rick And Morty Season 6 Expected Cast

There is no way Rick and Morty can function properly without Rick and Morty, regardless of the dimension we are currently occupying. That indicates that Justin Roiland will unavoidably reprise the two lead roles in season 6, but who will join him on the season 6 ensemble cast?

There is a good chance that Chris Parnell, Sarah Chalke, and Spencer Grammer will return to reprise their roles as Jerry, Beth, and Summer Smith, respectively. Chalke will almost certainly continue to portray Beth as well as Space Beth, her possible clone counterpart.

Another group of guest actors who potentially make a return in season 6 is:

After making a cameo appearance at the end of season five, we expect Justin Roiland to resume his role as Mr. Poopybutthole at some time in the future, even if it’s simply to provide another annual update on his love life.

Rick And Morty Season 6 Plot

Season six plot details have not yet been announced, but we can only hope that future episodes will be more in the vein of ‘Mortyplicity’ and less in the vein of ‘Rickdependence Spray,’ which is still considered to be the most ridiculous episode of Rick and Morty yet.

There was undoubtedly a hint in the season five finale that things might be heading in this manner. At the end of each season, Rick and Morty tends to impose more restrictions on canon, but the show has never leaned as heavily on serialized storytelling as it did at the conclusion of season five.

Rickmurai Jack not only brought Evil Morty back to life, but it also exposed Rick’s true past, which effectively confirmed that his wife and daughter were indeed murdered by another Rick in the episode “Evil Morty.” Don’t be surprised if the program begins to divulge more canon in the future, as evidenced by a season-three flashback that hinted at it earlier this season.

Not only is this what the fans have been asking for, but it also bodes well for the future of Rick and Morty. When it comes to this program, while comedy and escapism are essential, insane escapades and narrative twists aren’t always enough to keep you entertained if you don’t care about the characters. Let’s just hope that season six finds a way to strike a balance between the show’s innate absurdity and these game-changing character beats going forward in the series.

And while we’re talking about what we’d like to see in the future, how about some more Jessica and Space Beth, two fascinating characters who were largely absent from the show for the majority of Season 5. Another possibility is that Evil Morty returns, possibly armed with a glimpse of what is beyond the Central Finite Curve…

A new spin-off based on the Vindicators is also on its way to Adult Swim, which we already know about. Supernova, Vance Maximus, Alan Rails, Crocubot, and Noob Noob are just a few of the superheroes who will kick asses and take names all over the globe in this film. And, most likely, it will take place before the season three episode in which this squad was all killed.

Is it possible that this short series will have some connection to Rick and Morty’s season six? However, because it will be set in canon, it will open the door for crossovers in a manner that the anime spin-offs do not, which is a good thing.

In an interview with Inverse, Spencer Grammer hinted at some intriguing potential scenarios.

Rick And Morty Season 6 Plot

“In the future episodes, you’ll get to see more aspects of all the family members, which will be quite interesting. This season featured a significant number of episodes that were centered on family, which I find to be really interesting. Alternatively, when Rick is away with Jerry doing stuff. It’s interesting to see Beth, Morty, and Summer live their own lives without Rick’s interference.”

In addition, it appears that the season six villain has been revealed. There has never been a time when the Smith family has been reluctant to display diverse aspects (lol) of their personalities, but it appears that Morty’s older sister will be this year’s big evil. No matter if it’s a season-long storyline, a one-off episode, or a brief arc, it sounds like it’s going to be explored in some capacity.

Evil Summer is “probably the closest thing you can get to Rick she can possibly be,” Grammer said in an interview with Inverse. “The female members of the family have a strong resemblance to Rick, and this is where her brilliance lies. In a manner, she’d have to batter Rick’s psyche to get through to him.”

Even though Grammer was cautious to stress that she was only speculating in that situation, it appears to be something she has considered. And if Evil Summer doesn’t show up in season six, she might as well show up in season seven.

“I keep telling people that there are going to be so many more episodes,” Grammer stated. “They’ve already begun writing Season 6 and will most likely begin writing Season 7 in the near future as well. It’s wonderful to be on a regular schedule that people can see every year, ideally, but who knows, it could be two years instead of one year! I don’t want to raise any expectations, but I’m not sure it will be three years before we see each other again.”

Whatever happens in season six, you can count on at least some degree of transformation.

“It’s a strange balancing act,” Harmon admitted (via Decider). “That is true even in conventional live action television because… you don’t want your characters to grow and evolve to the point where they cease being the personalities that they were in the first place, especially in animation where characters might literally be 14 years old for the rest of their lives. You also don’t want to give them the impression that they are incapable of changing.”

“Because Morty is getting older, it’s kind of a bizarre, amusing philosophical thing to have him remain the same. Morty, on the other hand, is changing since he has been a part of the program for so long. In fact, when we offer story concepts that involve Morty becoming a little more jaded or his relationship with Rick evolving, we do bring it up. Only time will tell if that was a bad plan all along and perhaps Morty should have been simply frozen in amber instead.”

In addition, you may anticipate the same level of depth as before.

In Harmon’s experience, “remembering that it’s comedy and adding a bunch of jokes tends to come last,” he explained.

“First and foremost, I’m asking myself, “Why is this a story?” says the author. Which of these characters considers this a particularly significant one? ‘What exactly is going on here?’ There will be a lot of interactions that will sound absolutely nothing like what you may expect to hear in a comedy room because you’ll be looking for a story and attempting to personalize it.”

But the main question is whether season seven will be the final season.

“It’s far too early to make any predictions. On any given day, you’ll have the impression that this thing may last for 20, 30, or more seasons. We have characters who don’t seem to age at all; it’s extremely Simpsons-like in that regard. There’s so much we can do to keep this train moving forward “Roiland shared his thoughts (via CheatSheet).

Meanwhile, Harmon was a little more optimistic about the prospect of it being completed, though he still estimated a comparable time frame.

“I’m sure I’ll bring it to a close! However, I’m not sure if that would be on 70. The fact that this event has been running for 20 years wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest. That’s not something I would object to in the least. Let’s go ahead and do it if it still feels right “Harmon expressed himself.

“Yes, unless people stop caring about anything anymore. If we’re making it and no one’s watching it, we’re doing something wrong.” Roiland expressed himself.

“We’re overjoyed. There are a lot of stories we want to tell and a lot of things to do, but it’s exciting. In this community, the job security of this caliber is not easy to come by.”
