Locke & Key Season 3 Ending Explained With Potential Spoilers

The third season of Netflix’s Locke & Key comic book adaptation brings the curse of the keys to a satisfying conclusion. The magical tale of the Keepers of the Keys comes to an end with the release of Locke & Key season 3.

Locke & Key is a distinctive adaptation based on the Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez comics, in which a family relocates to their ancestral home, the Keyhouse, following a tragedy. Bodie, Kinsey, and Tyler learn that they have taken on the responsibility of being the Keepers of the Keys, guarding ancient magic against those who would abuse it.

The conflict between the Lockes and the demon known as Dodge was the main topic of Seasons 1 and 2. In Locke & Key season 2, the children discovered how to use the power of the keys as weapons in a spectacular confrontation, which brought this conflict to a head.

Unfortunately, Eden Hawkins, who was under the control of a powerful demon, used the Echo Key in Locke & Key season 2, episode 10, to free Captain Gideon, a deranged British soldier who had been possessed by a demon during the American Revolution, from his grip on his body. The kids started to unwind at the conclusion of Locke & Key season 2 and thought their problems were solved, but Gideon had come back.

The third season of Locke & Key expands on this storyline rather than repeating the Lockes’ discovery of the combined power of the keys.
Instead, it expands on the idea that the keys are actually a curse rather than a blessing, which has been a recurring theme throughout the entire series.

How does the Locke and Key ends?

Creation Key is the the most potent Key

Gideon discovered that by combining the strength of all the keys from the Keyhouse, he could open a fresh rift in the world of demons. The most potent Key of them all, the Creation Key, which resembles a pen more than a key, had been missing and hidden for a very long time.

It has a meta touch because Locke & Key is obviously a comic book adaptation brought to life on television. Anything drawn with the Creation Key becomes real. It had been kept a secret for many years in Gordie Shaw’s mind, a longtime associate of the original Keepers of the Keys.

The Lockes were successful in obtaining the Creation Key before Gordie passed away. The Lockes initially attempt to force Gideon into the Well House using the Creation Key, but doing so would destroy any Echoes because of the Well House’s gate.

They underestimate Gideon’s power, though, and he manages to escape and go on to demolish the Well House. Fortunately, as he does so, the Lockes become aware of the Creation Key’s true power: its ability to circumvent the magic of every other Key.

Kinsey constructs a passageway into the magical chest containing the other keys using the Creation Key. This includes the Alpha Key, which has the ability to exterminate all demons. All of this emphasizes the Creation Key’s power and importance to the Locke & Key story.

The Locke & Key Heroes Avoid the Curse of the Keys

Nina pushes Gideon into the portal he has conjured on the Keyhouse floor as Kinsey uses the Alpha Key on him to start the process of destroying him. Unexpectedly, the portal starts to close. They realize that this is because Gideon had two keys when he was pushed through the doorway and that if they cast all the keys into the demon dimension, they will close it once more.

Gideon has unintentionally given the Lockes a chance to permanently end the curse of the keys because returning them to the demon realm from which they came will cut off Earth’s connection to it. After Jackie’s passing in Locke & Key season 2, the show has increasingly portrayed the keys as a curse, with Tyler suffering a terrifying price.

Children can only remember the magic of the keys because they will naturally focus on it as a source of wonder, whereas adults who would recognize its darkness and danger will forget it. This is possibly the darkest aspect of the magic of the keys. The Lockes have gradually come to realize how dangerous the keys really are and how much harm they have caused to their lives as a result of using the Memory Key, which gets around this restriction and enables people to remember magic after turning 18 years old.

The Lockes make the decision to destroy the keys, bringing Locke & Key to an end.

Story of Locke & Key Completes a Full Circle: The Timeshift Key helped

After the murder of their father, Randall Locke, one of the original Keepers of the Keys, the Locke family relocated to the Keyhouse.
Bodie insists on making one final journey with the Timeshift Key so the family can say goodbye to their father. He will forget about this encounter, as part of the Timeshift Key’s carefully thought-out magic prevents him from doing so, but the Lockes will never forget it.

It gives each of the main characters of Locke & Key closure and one last wonderment before they destroy the Timeshift Key. For his wife Nina, who is free to pursue her burgeoning relationship with Josh, this is especially poignant. To make sure they will never forget the magic and this last moment with their father, the kids use the Memory Key on one another.

But because everything happens quickly, only those involved will be impacted; as Bodie’s friends get older, they will also forget it, as well Kinsey’s boyfriend, Scot Cavendish. It will only be recalled by the Keepers of the Keys, strengthening their bond and creating a touching moment.

Teasers for Locke & Key Season 3 points out there is still magic around.

The third season of Locke & Key leaves the impression that magic is still present. When Bodie makes a joke about how a key is still speaking to him, his family is immediately alarmed. He is delighted that they were duped. The distinctive magical hushing, though, can be heard outside the Keyhouse door as the episode draws to a close

It’s evidence that magic is still active, and Locke & Key’s storyline could go further if Netflix so chooses. Showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill of Netflix’s Locke & Key explain that they decided not to renew the show because they felt three seasons would be the perfect time to wrap up the Locke family’s adventures in the Keyhouse.

Given that, the final scene should be interpreted as a dramatic joke rather than a sign that Locke & Key will be back. The Locke family can confidently face the future now that the plot has been resolved and the show has reached its logical conclusion.
