Director Quentin Tarantino states that he has no interest in directing a Marvel movie

Quentin Tarantino has stated that he has no desire to helm a superhero film because he is “not a hired hand.”

On Thursday, in conjunction with the release of his book “Cinema Speculation,” the director gave an interview with Los Angeles Times columnist Glenn Whipp.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Tarantino said that he and other filmmakers “can’t wait for the day” when superhero movies are no longer commercially successful. The “Kill Bill” author also expressed his distaste for the MCU and DCEU.

You can’t perform those things without being a hired hand. “I’m not a hired gun,” he declared. I’m not actively seeking employment.

Tarantino has been vocal in his distaste for blockbuster films before. In 2020, he declared that he was engaged in “a war for movies” against blockbuster series like Marvel’s, Lucasfilm’s, and Eon Productions James Bond movies. He went on to say that the only thing keeping hero movies from dominating box offices was “film that doesn’t fall into that blockbuster IP proof position.”

This was the year that they would have completely dominated the globe. However, in a way, it wasn’t. According to him, recent years have seen a surge in “original movie content that begged to be seen, and demanded to be seen at the cinemas.”

The renowned director told the LA Times that he liked “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” when it came out in 1977. The first time he saw the picture in a cinema, he was 14 years old, and he “felt like a million bucks” afterward, despite the fact that the genre wasn’t particularly appealing to him.

Obviously, I enjoyed ‘Star Wars,’ and I won’t deny it. Why wouldn’t you like it? But, and I don’t mean this in a bad way, I do recall. The film was so engaging that I was swept up in the story and felt like I was actually experiencing life alongside these folks. His mood instantly improved as the lights came on. And at that instant, I realized something and thought, ‘Wow! Wow, that was one exciting movie.
