On July 19, Country Singer Harper Grae welcomed a baby girl Declan Monroe Gates at 6:06 pm. Harper says that she and her wife are ‘overjoyed’ with the birth of their magical Baby girl.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Grae shared that their baby girl weighed 7Ilb.,14 oz., at the time of birth and measured 19 inches long. This new addition to their family is especially joyful as the baby girl arrived nearly a decade after Harper previously suffered a miscarriage. Harper admits that she was, “nervous every step of the way, as I am sure many mothers whom after having had a miscarriage can relate. Every doctor’s appointment, every trip to the bathroom, every workout, every meal — I am overly cautious.”
“However,” she added, “one thing is for sure: this little rainbow baby will be loved.” Grae also described labor as the “most intense yet magical experience of my life.”
The country singer also shared the importance of her newborn’s name and stated that “Since I carried her, I wanted her name to share the initials of my wife: D.M.G. Declan was chosen after one of my favourite saints, St. Declan of Ardmore, and Monroe was chosen after my love and admiration for Marilyn Monroe.”

Grae also said that Gates “turned my fears of being pregnant into an aluminous world of light and hope” in an essay for Sounds Like Nashville back in March.
The Singer also famously wrote in an essay for Sounds Like Nashville that “I cannot wait to hear you cry for the first time. I think you’re going to love crying because, after all, you’re supposedly going to be a Cancer, like me, Even as I am typing this you gave me a swift little kick to the ribs almost as if you agree with me. If I can have one hope for you, may it be that you always feel loved and share the love you feel with others around you.”
Congratulation to the couple for their baby girl’s arrival.
