Japanese mecha anime series ‘Code Geass’ or ‘Kdo Giasu: Hangyaku no Rurshu’ is created by Sunrise. Director Gor Taniguchi and writer Ichiro kouchi are responsible for the series. Exiled prince Lelouch vi Britannia is the main focus of the program, which takes place in a parallel universe. The primary question on the minds of fans is whether or not a third season will be produced after the hugely successful first two.
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection was released in February 2019 by Sunrise Studio. In October 2006, the first season aired; in April 2008, the second season was published. Seasons 1 and 2 each included 25 episodes, and the anime was a tremendous hit with anime fans. As a result of its incredible content and attraction, nearly everyone who saw it fell in love with it. Code Geass might return for a third season, and here is all you need to know about it.
Code Geass Season 3 Release Date
Season one of Code Geass premiered on MBS in Japan on October 5, 2006, and had a total of 25 episodes. Starting on March 29, 2007, the mecha series went on hiatus until July 28, 2007, when the final two episodes of Season 1 were made available to fans.
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion was so popular that a second season, also titled Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, was announced in March 2007. It premiered on TBS and MBS on April 6, 2008, with the abbreviation R2. The number of episodes in the second season was the same as in the first.
Funimation published a trilogy of retrospective films, but the anime series is far from done. Code Geass: Z of the Recapture, a new anime series that would air as part of Studio Sunrise’s new 10-year plan, was revealed on December 5, 2022 (Dec. 5 is Lelouch’s birthday).
It has not been confirmed when exactly Code Geass: Z of the Recapture will be released, although it is likely to be anywhere between the fall of 2022 and the winter of 2023.

In Code Geass, what exactly occurred over the first two seasons?
The fictional Orwellian world of Code Geass is ruled by a trinity of superpowers: the Holy Britannian Empire, the European Union (also known as Europa United), and the Chinese Federation.
The protagonist is Lelouch vi Britannia, a prince of the Britannian Empire also known as Lelouch Lamperouge (voiced by Jun Fukuyama in the Japanese version and Johnny Yong Bosch in the English). At Ashford, he meets a strange girl named C.C. (Yukana/Kate Higgins), who gives him the Geass (the ability to make others do what one wishes) when he is king. Lelouch used this skill to plan military operations and identify his mother’s killers, a tragedy that left his sister blind and unable to walk but inspired him to seek revenge.
Japan is invaded unprovoked by robots known as “Knightmare Frames,” which are employed in combat. The territory is completely destroyed by these mechs, who then occupy it by force and designate it as Japan Area 11. Lelouch wants payback from the empire for their misdeeds.
He also makes a pact with his boyhood buddy Suzaku Kururugi to rescue Japan from despotic plots, but the two eventually fight one other in various conflicts.
At first, he engages in targeted mecha combat out of self-interest, but he eventually joins the extremist “Black Knights” rebel force to free his kingdom.
What to Expect in Code Geass Season 3?
The only thing we know about Code Geass: Z of the Recapture’s plot is that it takes place after the last movie in the franchise’s trilogy. Since the original series and movies are set at different times, fans are curious about where the new series will go.
Even though the movies are supposed to be recaps of the series, there are some major plot changes that make the Code Geass universe not make sense. Because of this, it’s still not clear if the new series will be a direct continuation of the second season of the show or if it will follow the storyline of the movie trilogy.
Monsters & Critics provided an explanation for this confusion
“The creators apparently viewed the [Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re; Surrection] movie as an alternate timeline since Taniguchi said the compilation trilogy is ‘not a negation of the television series, but rather one possible outcome. That means the original ending remains intact whereas the new movies establish a new separate canon based on an alternate timeline.”
The story of the new Code Geass series is still a secret, but it’s likely that we’ll learn more about the characters’ pasts. This is because it’s still not clear if Lelouch will play a direct role in the new series.
