In fact, when the writers saw how well they worked together during the read, they immediately made Vangsness’ role bigger and were inspired to make the two characters’ relationship more interesting on-screen. “I get a call that night. “You have new script pages,” they say. I thought, “That’s strange.” “she told me. “Then they sent me this new version, which talked about some of the things I was doing with Shemar. Vangsness then talked about how special the relationship became, both for “Criminal Minds” fans and for herself. “I think both of us know how special that relationship is and respect it. And really, I wouldn’t have this job if it weren’t for Shemar and Morgan and Penelope’s energy. It’s the yummiest, tastiest, and the coolest relationship between a man and a woman.”
