Amber Heard Mental illness: Is Really Amber Heard Has PTSD From Intimate Partner Violence By Johnny Depp?

Depp’s lawyers hired a clinical and forensic psychologist to testify on day nine of the defamation case against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. The psychologist said that Heard had a borderline personality disorder.

In October of 2021, Dr. Shannon Curry told the court that she was asked to “provide a psychological evaluation” of Heard, 36. Curry said that she isn’t board-certified, but the judge agreed with her. There were “all the case documents,” Curry said. She looked at Heard’s medical records as well as photos and “multiple witness statements,” and met with the Aquaman actress on two separate dates in December 2021 for a total of about 12 hours.

Borderline personality disorder and histrionic personality disorder were both found to be true of Ms. Heard’s evaluation, Curry said.

People who know Heard say she’s very concerned about how she looks, that she is prone to cruelty and blaming others, and that she isn’t able to take responsibility for her actions because of her condition.

What is a histrionic personality disorder?

How is it different from other well-known personality disorders, like paranoid, narcissistic, or OCD?

People who have a histrionic personality disorder, which means they are overly theatrical or melodramatic, are more likely to be women. It can be learned or inherited, and it comes with “intense, unstable emotions and distorted self-images,” the Cleveland Clinic says.

Because of this, people with the disordered act out, need other people’s approval to boost their self-esteem, and have an “overwhelming desire to be seen.”

A histrionic personality disorder is not as common as a narcissistic or borderline personality disorder, says Jessica January Behr, a licensed psychologist in New York City who is also a doctor.

“The criteria for the disorder is probably much more commonly seen than diagnosed,” she says. If you want to get someone diagnosed with histrionic personality disorder, they must meet five out of nine very specific rules.

The Cleveland Clinic says there are nine things to look for when you’re not the center of attention. These include being uncomfortable unless you’re the center of attention, changing your emotions quickly, acting very dramatically as if you were in front of an audience, and always looking for reassurance or approval.

Finally, this is a very serious disorder, and the label should only be used if a mental health expert who has looked at you and done certain diagnostic tests agrees that you have it.

For treatment

People with the disorder usually go to counseling to find out why they think and act the way they do, and the counselor will help them learn how to connect with others in a more positive way.

Medications may also be prescribed by a doctor to help with the depression and anxiety that come with this disorder, says the Cleveland Clinic

When people learn about this psychological term, Behr says, “It’s good that people are learning about it, but it’s important not to make an armchair diagnosis.” “We also have to be careful not to mix up “dramatic” and “hysterical,” because both words mean the same thing.” To have a histrionic personality disorder, there are certain things that must be done. This isn’t a term that should be used lightly.
